Military and Veterans Dependent
and Spouse Scholarships and Resources

The Patriot Military Family Foundation is proud to support our military dependents and spouses in their educational endeavors. The following list includes not only those scholarships that we offer and support, but many others provided by other organizations.


Patriot Military Family Foundation Scholarship – North Carolina service members and their families are eligible for four-year scholarships offered in partnership with the We Care Foundation. Recipients must attend a North Carolina State college or university.

Fisher House Foundation Scholarships are offered for military children and for children of service members who died or were severely disabled in service to our country. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


The Thanks USA Scholarship Program – Offered to dependent children and spouses of active-duty, discharged, and retired United States military personnel (1) (including Guard/Reserve and those wounded/killed in action) who served after the events of September 11, 2001.


The National Guard Association Educational Foundation Inc. –  Service Member must be a member of the NG Association, open to ARNG & ANG.


American Veterans Scholarship – Scholarships are offered to Veterans and their spouses.


The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Several different scholarships are available with different requirements and due dates.


Veteran’s United Foundation Scholarships – Offered to a surviving spouse or a surviving child of a deceased service member from a service-related death OR a veteran with a 100% service-connected disability. Check the website for opening and submission dates.


Army Scholarship Foundation – Offered to children of current or former Army service members and spouses of current Army service members.


National Military Family Association – Military Spouse Scholarships Applications are open year round.


SEAP – Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) must be 16 to apply and high school seniors are still eligible.


Folds of Honor Scholarship – Has a Children’s Fund to assist with K-12 education and Higher Education Scholarships for spouses and dependents of our nation’s service members.


Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships for dependent children of active duty service members who were either killed, permanently disabled or certified MIA/POW


The Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy Scholarship – Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. Winners receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to be honored by the VFW and its Auxiliary, and receive their portion of the national awards.


North Carolina 4 Year Scholarship Program – For qualifying children under age 25 of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA Veterans; must be a legal resident of North Carolina.


Enlisted Members Dependent Children & USAF Sergeants Assoc. International Auxiliary – Requirements differ by scholarship, but are generally open only to children of US Air Force service members and veterans.


Operation Homefront’s Military Child of the Year® Award – Presented to eight outstanding military children who demonstrate resiliency, leadership and achievement, Prizes include a laptop computer and cash.


Imagine America Scholarship Program – Includes 3 scholarships to help with funding career training schools: High School Student Scholarship, Military Personnel Scholarship and Adult Student Scholarship.


Elks Scholarships –   The Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen and is a child or grandchild of an Elks member.


State Employees Credit Union Foundation – High School Scholarship Program Members of State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies (LEAs)/School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship valued at $10,000 payable at $1,250 for up to eight consecutive semesters for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System. Also scholarships for Community College Scholarship Program ($5000) & the CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.


USA Scholarships – Offers many scholarships for Boy & Girl Scouts


All American Strategic Response Force Scholarship82nd Airborne, scholarships for surviving children of paratroopers killed in comba. Contact info@patriotmilitaryfamilyfoundation.org for more information. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


All Veteran Group – Dependents of members or former members of the AVG Parachute Team. Contact info@patriotmilitaryfamilyfoundation.org for more information. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


Community Culinary School – contact info@patriotmilitaryfamilyfoundation.org for more information. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


Joint Special Operations Foundation –  Offers scholarships and grants to children of JSOC members both past and present. Merit-based scholarships; to be paid directly to the college, university, or secondary education establishment. Scholarships for Family Members of our Wounded Warriors and Injured Service Members, and to Gold Star Family Members of our fallen combat enablers and support warriors. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


Navy Seal Foundation – What-we-do/educational-opportunities/ awards scholarships for higher education to spouses, and children, as well as our SEAL and SWCC post-9/11 veterans. Also support quality education options for dependent children in geographically separated duty locations where choices matter to the overall success of the student. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


Night Stalker Association – Open to spouses, legal dependents, and enlisted members of the 160th.   https://www.nsa160.com/SOFund_Scowcroft_Program/ provides a $10,000 annual undergraduate educational scholarship to exemplary awardees from among the Rangers/Unit/Night Stalker/SEAL/USAF candidates’ pool each year. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.

Special Forces Scholarship Fund –  Awards merit-based post-secondary educational scholarships to the daughters and sons of current and veteran Special Forces Soldiers. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


USASOC Soldier, Family, & Command Support Association – Scholarships for dependents of US Army Special Operations Command wounded warrior soldiers Contact info@patriotmilitaryfamilyfoundation.org for more information. Supported by the Patriot Military Family Foundation.


Education Connection – To show thanks for the sacrifices made by the United States military and their families, Education Connection is offering a scholarship worth $1,000 to Veterans, Active Duty and Military Spouses.


RF-Lambda Scholarship – To qualify you must be the son or daughter of a military service member who died while on active duty (the manner of death does not matter) and a senior in high school or attending college.
